Individual Note:
The stories that I have heard regarding this child, is that after his biological father (Willard H. Reese) left and his mother remarried, he stopped using the name Reese and used the sirname of Roberts (his mother's maiden name)

James B. Roberts was the first sheriff of Escambia County, Fl. (1865-1870) He was also quite a business man. He was Worshipful Master of the Escanbia County Masonic Lodge in Pensacola in 1891. He built and owned the first hotel in Pensacola on Wright St. He had a brick business . Also livery sales and bording stables. He served two terms in the lower house of the State legislature. He also served in the Civil War (on the Confederate side, of course)

He married a Williamine Suarez after his first wife, Frances Ann McLoud Ross died. According to one genealogist in Pensacola ( Dicy V. Bowman) Williamine Suarez was living with the Roberts family in 1870 and teaching their children to play piano and violin,

CHILDREN 1-7 ARE LISTED ON THE 1870 CENSUS. #8-10 WERE ON A SHEET IN THE GENEALOGICAL MUSEUM IN PENSACOLS. I HAVE NOT CHECKED THIS OUT (REGARDING THE LAST THREE)

Info. on this family came from 1870 Census---Escambia Co. Fl. and Baldwin Co. Al. Marriage records

Individual Note:
There has been some ambiguity on this woman's name....in some family notes it was listed as McLeonard. That seems to be incorrect. The correct name seems to be McLoud. However, there is the "Ross" name to be contended with. It appears that her maiden name was Ross, but perhaps she had been married before she married James B. Roberts. BUT that does not seem right either, because it appears that she was only 16 when she married James B. Roberts. ??? She used the name McLoud on her marriage license
Perhaps she is not the daughter of Amos Ross???? Much research is need here.
