The 1870 Escamb. Col. Fl census lists her age as 26 which would have made her birth year to be 1844. It also lists her as being born in Ala. But the same problem occurs as with her husband, Wm. Green Sheppard....that part of Fla/Ala was going back and forth at that time, so who knows if it was Fla? or Ala?

The 1870 Escambia Co. Fl. census lists him as a Farmer. With his wife, Martha and 5 children and his father-in-law, Daniel Sheppard.
Early Settler of Escambia County, Fl. wo found that it was profitable, enjoyable also and aid to the advancement of the community to engage in farming. He was a Confederate Veteran who served with distinction in the War between the States. He raised a large family who also aided in the development of the community. (T.T. Wentworth Museum booklet #10)
